A brand new contest came into play in the freestyle scooter world this year. The Madd Gear Big Air Contest that took place this past weekend at WoodWard East in Pennsylvania and was the first of its kind.
The contest ran from April 10th to April 12th and featured twenty competing riders. Competitors were selected by Madd Gear and Fidelity Magazine, collaborating together to bring some of the world’s top riders to the event. They successfully created one of the top events of the year, and this Madd Gear Big Air Contest is expected to return even bigger and better next year.

Over at the Scooter Resource, they are saying that this event was expected to “break out of the basic park comp into new and unexplored areas of scooter contests”. The Madd Gear Big Air Contest certainly did not fall short of this expectation.
It is an exciting time in the freestyle scooter community as new competitions are now probable to pop up all over the globe. We can expect to see this industry gaining more acceptance and recognition as contests grow in size and coverage.
