A lot of people give us a call to find out where the best place to learn how to skateboard is. This is usually a tough question to answer but below you will see that we created a list of things you should think about when choosing a place to skateboard.
1. Choose a place that has smooth concrete. Kids trying to learn how to skateboard on a rough surface will generally have a harder time learning.
2. An area with no traffic is key to safety. Kids generally want to skateboard in front of their house, this is fine but not the greatest idea.
3. Beginner skateboard park. There are quite of few of these in the GTA, a great one in Thornhill called Marc Santi.
4. Tennis courts are also a great place to learn. The concrete is smooth which makes cruising a lot easier. The only problem with this is that the courts are usually busy with tennis players.
5. Hockey Rinks are amazing for learning! In the summer the rinks obviously have no ice, so get out there. On Wilmington between Sheppard and Finch there is a great one for those who live in North York.
Good luck out there, and lets hope the snow melts soon!
