Adidas Skateboarding are planning on releasing their debut skateboard film, “Away Days,” next month. The film was directed by Matt Irving, but also features filming done by Chris Mulhern, Torsten Frank, Justin Albert, Sem Rubio and Zander Taketomo. I’m sure we can expect to see some incredible skating in the film, and based on the teaser video they released, that’s a safe assumption.
In the teaser, Adidas Global team riders Silas Baxter-Neal, Jack Fardell, Lucas Puig, Nakel Smith and Tyshawn Jones discuss what it took to nail some of the tricks in “Away Days.” I really admire their drive and passion for skating. They’re well aware of the fact that practice makes perfect. Sometimes you need to try the same thing over and over again before you get it down. This kind of attitude is exactly what we try to teach at Evolve Skateboard Camps.
“Away Days” is set to premiere in Los Angeles on May 12. The full premiere dates are as follows:
Away Days Premiere Dates
May 12 – Los Angeles
May 14 – New York City
May 17 – London
May 20 – Tokyo
May 20 – Sao Paulo
The film premieres globally on May 30th. In preparation for the release, Adidas has released a special edition of their Adi Ease skate sneaker. The shoes are low-cut, with white leather and green stripes. On the side, “AWAY DAYS” is stamped on. They’re actually a really nice pair of shoes! I kind of want a pair.
So, the anticipation is now building for this film to drop. I’m excited to see what kind of footage Adidas put together for their first full-length film. They definitely have the budget to put together something awesome, so my expectations are understandably high.
Although we don’t carry any shoes, the Evolve shop has a bunch of other great skate gear available if you’re itching to upgrade your deck or anything else. Check it out for yourself and see if there’s anything you like!
