Nutrition Tips For Skateboarders

April 26, 2016

Skateboarding is definitely a work out, and I’m sure anybody who’s struggled to peel off a pair of sweat-drenched jeans will agree. That being said, a lot of skateboarders completely overlook nutrition. Whether you go out for a quick half an hour rip, or a day-long skate session, your body is burning through a lot of energy while you’re on the board. If you fuel your body properly, you’ll have more energy at your disposal and be able to nail those tricks faster! So, here’s some nutrition tips for skateboarders.

Drink lots of water.

Water is always important, regardless of the activity that you’re doing. So, next time you’re heading to the skatepark, remember to bring a refillable water bottle. The last thing you want is to have to go home early because you’re dehydrated.

Vitamins and minerals.

Eat your fruits and veggies to ensure that you’re getting enough vitamins and minerals. If you’re having a hard time with that, consider taking a daily multivitamin supplement. They can provide you with all the stuff that you need in just one little capsule.

Carbohydrates

Getting the proper amount of carbohydrates will ensure that your body has enough energy to last your entire session. Eating a meal that has lots of carbs (like whole-grain pasta) roughly two-hours before you head out to skate will make a big difference in your energy levels.

Protein

Skateboarders don’t need excess amounts of protein to perform at a high level. Unless you’re doing strength training along side your skating, your daily protein intake should be about 12% of your diet. If you’re hitting the gym before/after your session, you should be consuming more.

Hopefully these little tips can give you a better sense of how you can better fuel your body for skateboarding! If you need tips on how to nail that trick you’ve been trying for, consider enrolling in some Evolve Skateboard Lessons
