Iceland is a massive (and awesome) skatepark in Mississauga, Ontario. It’s part of the Iceland Sports Complex, a four-pad ice hockey facility. We’re not here to talk about hockey, though, we’re here to talk about skateboarding!
If you’re a skater living in Mississauga and you’ve yet to visit Iceland, you’re really missing out. It’s a 2000 square foot skatepark coated in buttery smooth concrete. The size of the park means that there’s room for a variety of obstacles; whether you’re a beginner or an expert, there’s something here for you.
Some of the notable features include a few different sets of stairs, a bowl, plenty of banks and ledges, as well as a ton of rails. The options are almost endless when it comes to stringing together lines.
Here at Evolve, we love Iceland Skatepark. In fact, we visit it quite frequently. Our program, Evolve Skate Camp, travels to 5 different skateboard parks each week, and we always make sure to come to Iceland. Each skatepark that Evolve travels to provides campers with an opportunity to develop their skills on new surfaces, and this is a great park for doing just that.
We’re also offering skateboarding lessons this May and June at Iceland. They start from the ground up, focusing on safety techniques and basic balance activities. After you get the hang of it, we’ll move you onto harder stuff. Iceland is a great place to learn, too, because there’s a bit of everything to try. As long as you’re feeling up for it, that is. These lessons include 4 consecutive Saturdays or Sundays.
So, yeah, definitely check this park out. If you want to get a better idea of what to expect, we made a little montage of one of our days there. Just a heads up though, there’s some serious shredding going on!
